Dr. Marco Albani is an independent consultant in the fields of climate change and sustainability, with a focus on land use, forests, and agricultural supply chains. 

From 2015 to 2018, Marco was the first Director of the Tropical Forest Alliance 2020 and a member of the Executive Committee of the World Economic Forum. He oversaw the establishment of the Secretariat of the Alliance, a public-private collaboration platform to remove deforestation from commodity supply chains (www.tfa2020.org). 

Prior to joining the World Economic Forum, Marco was at McKinsey & Company, which he joined as an Associate in the Toronto office in 2005, eventually becoming a Senior Expert in McKinsey’s Sustainability and Resource Productivity Practice.

Marco joined McKinsey from Harvard University, where he was a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology and a research scientist at Harvard Forest.

Marco holds a Ph.D. in Forest Sciences from the University of British Columbia, Canada, and a Laurea in Forest Sciences from the University of Florence, Italy.

Marco is an Italian and Canadian national, and is fluent in both Italian and English.
